During the last decades, religious practice in Wester countries radically decreased. Therefore, many religious places have been abandoned. Particularly in England, only 30% of the population is concerned with religion while the mass participation rate is only 1%. Photographer James Kerwin therefore tried to catch the mystical ambiance of an empty and dilapidated church, where a feeling of spirituality seems to persist.
