Las Vegas… the City of Sin, the go-to setting for any movie or novel that deigns to hint at themes of sleaze, debauchery, and that intangible essence of ‘anything could happen’. Covering this side of the city for his latest series, photographer Ludwig Favre hits Vegas after midnight to try to bottle that energy and sense of anticipation. The results are a stunning collection of images drowned in neon that frame the types of Las Vegas scenes we’re all too familiar with (whether vicariously through film or in real life), from wedding chapels and motels to casinos and strip clubs.
The compositions have the feel of film stills, such is the cinematic style of the series, with Favre’s lens not merely seeking out the famous signage but composing shots in which unassuming figures linger in frame, allowing onlookers to conjure back stories to suit. Favre beautifully captures the after dark scene of the city of vice as it counts down the hours until the raging desert sun returns. Follow him on Instagram.
