Mark Cocksedge is a London-based photographer who works closely with the design industry, specialising in interiors, architecture, portraiture, and editorial photography.

After studying Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Met University – where he received a grounding in traditional methods of shooting, processing and developing images – Cocksedge assisted documentary photographer John Angerson, and fashion photographer Dan Kennedy, shooting the likes of Grayson Perry, David Hockney and Peter Capaldi.

He also spent time in Washington DC documenting the Brave New Voices poetry festival for award-winning documentary We Are Poets, and in Malawi, capturing the country’s fashion and pattern-cutting industry for NGO Micro Enterprise Africa.

Having spent the last several years developing his style, Cocksedge moved to east London to set up his own studio, and focus on his work with the design industry – including collaborating with his brother, designer Paul Cocksedge, whose work he’s been documenting for the last decade.

Every day, 104 people in the UK are diagnosed with blood cancer. Yet few know the symptoms or types (there are 137 different blood cancers), so when it is detected, it’s often later on – or too late.

as part of Blood Cancer Awareness Month and Janssen’s  campaign, we teamed up with acclaimed designer Paul Cocksedge to create a striking and thought-provoking piece. Located in the heart of London, you can’t walk by without it catching your eye.

The installation comprises the names of 104 real people with blood cancer, brought together in a common crowd of shared experience.

Each sculpture, perfectly sized to match its namesake’s height, tells a story of shock, sadness – but ultimately hope and determination.
